OSCEOLA AIRBOAT ASSOCIATION MEETING MINUTES
Meeting
Called To Order:
Meeting called to
order by President Earl Stidham. Dave Johnson led the group in a
prayer and Earl led the group in the Pledge of Alliance.
Officer Mendez and co-workers from Florida Fish
and Wildlife came to the club and briefed the members on Snail
Kites, and the areas where they can be found, in cattails, what they
feed on, Apple Snails and why they are endangered. They brought
pictures of the Snail Kites. They took questions from the audience.
Nesting is January through August. Both the male and female have
white bands around. When airboating stay outside the signs posted,
do not cut through the cattails. Talked about the spraying schedule
on the lakes.

Current members 170.
Minutes of last
meeting were not read and approved, so they stand as typed. There
were 26 members present.
Treasures
Report:
Art Munns was not
present. Treasury stands the same as last meeting, no new expenses.
Report of
Officers:
Low
turnout for the Space Coast State Fair Thunder in the Stadium
Airboat races reported by Connie O’Dell. If you need more tickets
to sell please let Connie know.
Lawsuit, Earl talked to Joe Thacker, head
attorney for Osceola County he stated that Dave Johnson signed the
Lawsuit. Earl said we had a couple commissioners on the board that
were Airboat friendly, Fred Hawkins has told Earl that he was
definitely for the club and their rights. Earl believes that we
should go for the whole package. Joe Thacker said that she has to
post the meeting 10 days before. It has not been posted yet. Earl
pleaded with each member to be at the meeting and fill the seats.
Earl read a letter from Joe Thacker thanking him for sharing his
outlook and information about a lake cleanup. Earl asked each
member to help him when the campaign comes up to help campaign for
the Commissioners.

and Entertainment:
December 12, Santa
Clause runs for Russell Home for Children. January 9th,
Lake Loughman, more information to follow.
Committee
Report:
No Committee reports.
Old Business:
Question about the
Solar panel at pavilion. Jeff Breisinger reported that the
batteries are dead. We may have to buy two batteries and Solar
Panel. The solar panel is installed on the roof. Earl brought
pictures of the letters placed on the shed to show they have been
installed.
Tony brought to the
club pictures of a 250 gallon grill that has been offered to the
club for $1,000. The grill needs a hot box and smoke stack, Roy will
do the work for $100 on the grill to finish it off.
Gary Smith made a
motion and Tony seconded to allow him to purchase the grill for
$1,000 if it is still for sale. Tony will check on the Grill’s
status before next meeting.
Clinton asked how the
ticket sales are going on the Hull. Sales are slow. Earl mentioned
that Bishop will have the tickets made for the motor sales. Jeff
asked if all the proceeds from the sale of the motor are going to
FAA and Earl confirmed that.
New Business:
Clinton Bass made a
motion, Gary Smith seconded to present Panther, Alumitech and Warp
Drive each a plaque, maximum $50 each to show our appreciation for
their donations. Warp Drive donated a 6 blade turbo prop.
Gary Smith made a
motion Tony Tozzolo seconded to cut a check for $500 to the Russell
Home for Children for the Santa run on December 12th.
Jeff Breisinger
reported that he, Terry Clark, Jeffrey , Patrick, Rob Murchie, and
South Florida Water Management installed four burn rings, five pads
and picnic tables and had been designated as a camp area for Lake
Cypress, South end at big Oak Hammock. . South Florida Management
donated everything to set this up. Jeff told the club that every
fire must be in a burn ring. If anyone has a place they would like
to see a camp let him know, South Florida Management has more burn
rings and tables they can set up.
Tony mentioned that
Mike Hoadley has a friend that has a galvanized trailer that he
wants to sell the club for $300.
Earl asks the club to
have a ride after the Lawsuit is finished, and invite Brevard and
Indian River county clubs. Roy has volunteered to cook up some
Boston Butts. Earl mentioned January, some members said it should
wait until after hunting season. Jeff mentioned that we can not set
a date until the lawsuit is settled.
Meeting
Adjourned: Meeting adjourned approximately 8:30pm. Half and half and Member
lottery were drawn.
Buddy Yates
was the proud winner of half and half and Greg Horton
was our Member drawn, Greg was not present, lottery rolls over to
next month.
